Petone FC is pleased to welcome Ryan Edwards as the new Petone FC Director of Football.

Ryan comes into the role following a year as Technical Director of the Mitre 10 MEGA Petone Settlers Talent Centre. The Director of Football role sees him become head coach for the Central League men’s team and increase his involvement overseeing the club’s junior and youth programmes.

Club Chairman Matt Bliss said that the club has been reviewing its strategic direction and is committed to enhancing its programmes and improving the club-wide experience for all its members.

“Ryan brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience and is committed to developing our players both on and off the field, as well as providing support and education programme for our coaches,” said Matt Bliss.

“In his role, he will work alongside all areas of the club, including our girls and women’s players to ensure we build a clear and consistent identity for the club.

Having someone like Ryan who understands the pathway, as well as what it takes to succeed at a senior level is a great step forward for the club.”

Ryan has been coaching for over 15 years and holds an OFC B-Licence qualification. He has previously led the development of the Karori Swifts talent centre programme and Kapiti junior development programme, as well as coaching with the Wellington Phoenix Academy.

Ryan takes up the role immediately and over the coming weeks will be making further announcements regarding coaching and football programmes for 2022.
